Village Pizzeria

Village Pizzeria, located at 131 N Larchmont Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90004, is renowned throughout the city for its authentic New York-style pizza.

The pizzeria was founded by Steve Cohen, who was from Brooklyn, New York. After moving to San Francisco in 1979, Cohen and his family eventually relocated to Los Angeles, where they opened the first Village Pizzeria in Hollywood in 1995. That location was inspired by a similar pizzeria in San Francisco, which they had previously owned.

The Hollywood Village Pizzeria, on Yucca Street, was known for its thin, floppy crust, and was a beloved spot for locals. Unfortunately, that location closed in 2015.

In 2008, Cohen expanded his pizza venture by opening a second location on Larchmont Boulevard. This pizzeria quickly became known for its vibrant decor filled with sports memorabilia and nostalgic items from Cohen’s past, reflecting his New York roots and his time in California.

In June 2022, after nearly three decades of operation, Steve Cohen sold the Larchmont location. The new ownership group includes actor Frank Grillo, producers Jeff Bowler and Bret Saxon, and Amy Saxon, Bret’s wife.
