Tonchin Ramen originated in Tokyo, Japan, in 1992.
Brothers Katsuhiro and Motohiro Sugeno were the founders.
Twenty-five years after the first opening, Katsuhiro’s son Anan Sugeno brought about Tonchin New York in Midtown West, then opened Tonchin Brooklyn in Williamsburg.
Tonchin opened its Los Angeles outpost right on the southern edge of Hollywood in January 2023.
