Genevieve Destot, O’Tiffe Salon Founder

 

Genevieve Destot founded Salon O’Tiffe on Larchmont in 1990. Originally from Ghana, she studied the science and fine art of hair care in Paris, and speaks French fluently. She’s been in the beauty business since 1978. Genevieve not only does a mean Brazilian blowout, she also knows everything there is about hair.

She can tell if you’ve been eating right, whether her client is going through menopause (seriously), diagnose your nutritional deficiencies, recommend which vitamins are best for your particular type − all based on the texture and look of the hair.

The picture above offers a glimpse into the wonderfully run Salon O’Tiffe, which is located in the cool Rios building near Melrose Avenue. Do drop by one of these days, if only to sit in their shampoo massage chairs − it’s an amazing experience and really good for your back and butt. Yes, you can come in just to try it even without having a shampoo done.
